Selected from a highly competitive pool of 359 proposals, TROIA secured 150,000 euro in Horizon Europe Cascade Funding through the Cosmic Open Call #1.
The Slovenian IT company successfully obtained EU funding through the Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) model, commonly known as cascade funding, to further develop and validate its AI- and data-driven solution for energy resource optimisation.
TROIA's successful application demonstrates how innovative SMEs can use Horizon Europe cascade funding and FSTP opportunities to access EU funding for technology development, testing and validation.
The successful application resulted in €150,000 in EU cascade funding for TROIA.
About the project
With the secured €150,000 in Horizon Europe cascade funding, TROIA will further develop, integrate, test and validate its AI- and data-driven solution for energy resource optimisation within the COSMIC ecosystem.
Participation will enable TROIA to validate its technology in a real-world environment, demonstrate its potential for more efficient energy resource management and further strengthen its position in the European market.

Cascade funding - an accessible route to EU funding
Cascade funding, also known as Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP), is a funding mechanism used within Horizon Europe and other EU-funded programmes and projects. It allows EU-funded projects to distribute financial support directly to companies and other innovators through dedicated Open Calls.
For start-ups and SMEs, cascade funding can provide a more accessible route into the EU funding ecosystem, supporting activities such as technology development, integration, testing, validation, demonstration and market uptake.
TROIA received its funding through an Open Cal#1l launched by COSMIC, a project funded under the Horizon Europe programme. Through its FSTP scheme, COSMIC supports innovative companies developing AI- and data-driven solutions for large-scale energy resource optimisation.
