🔬 ERC - €705M for Europe’s next generation of researchers
The European Research Council has awarded €705 million to 421 early-career researchers through its 2026 Starting Grants competition.
The funding will help researchers build independent teams and pursue ambitious frontier research, with the selected projects expected to create more than 2,700 research jobs across Europe.

⚡ Just Transition Mechanism - €20M for electricity grid expansion
The LaNeTra project in Germany’s Lausitz region will receive €20 million in EU grant funding, complemented by a €400 million EIB loan.
The investment will expand electricity grid capacity, improve grid stability and strengthen security of supply in a region undergoing major structural and energy transition.

🔋 EU Energy - German capacity mechanism of up to €35B approved
The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a German electricity capacity mechanism with estimated costs of up to €35.2 billion through 2045.
The mechanism will support generation, storage and demand-response capacity to ensure security of electricity supply while contributing to Germany’s transition towards a climate-neutral power system.

🚢 EU Industry - Maritime Value Chains Alliance launched
The European Commission has launched the EU Industrial Maritime Value Chains Alliance, bringing together stakeholders across Europe’s maritime manufacturing ecosystem.
The Alliance will help coordinate investment priorities, strengthen European maritime value chains and support competitiveness and resilience in shipbuilding and related industries.

🌿 Nature Restoration - Member States submit national plans
EU Member States have submitted their draft National Restoration Plans under the Nature Restoration Regulation.
The plans explain how countries intend to meet restoration targets up to 2030 while setting strategic directions for 2040 and 2050, covering ecosystems, biodiversity and resilience to droughts, floods, heatwaves and wildfires.
