This week’s updates highlight cross-border renewable energy, digital skills, safer online platforms, aviation modernisation and cloud market regulation.

⚡ CEF Energy - New call for cross-border renewable energy projects

CINEA has launched the 6th call for projects seeking Cross-Border Renewable Energy status under the CEF Energy Programme.

Obtaining this status is mandatory for projects wishing to access EU funding for studies and works under the CB RES window, while also increasing visibility, Member State support and investor confidence. Applications are open until 6 October 2026.

🎓 Digital Europe - Three new Digital Skills Academies launched

The European Commission has launched three new Digital Skills Academies focused on quantum, artificial intelligence and virtual worlds.

Funded under the Digital Europe Programme, the academies will support training in critical technology areas and help Europe reach its Digital Decade targets.

📱 Digital Strategy - €1.48M call for safer social media platforms

The European Commission has published a €1.48 million call for proposals to support safer and more inclusive social media platforms for young audiences.

The pilot project will involve young people in designing features focused on user safety, mental health, privacy and accessibility, supporting a more responsible European social media ecosystem.

✈️ EU Transport - Modernising air traffic management in Europe

Nine European aviation institutions presented their joint vision for a more modern and efficient European air traffic management system under the Europe for Aviation initiative.

The initiative brings together policy, innovation, deployment, operations and funding to support a safer, more sustainable and more competitive European airspace.

☁️ Digital Markets Act - Cloud computing roundtable held

The European Commission hosted a stakeholder roundtable on cloud computing services as part of its ongoing market investigation under the Digital Markets Act.

Discussions focused on interoperability, financial conditions and contractual practices, with the aim of reducing switching barriers and strengthening customer choice in cloud markets.
