This week’s EU funding updates highlight new renewable energy investment opportunities, infrastructure upgrades across European ports, digital skills initiatives, and funding support for sustainable heating systems.

☀️ Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism - €54.9M solar funding call launched

A new €54.9 million call for proposals under the EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM) will support ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects in Bulgaria and Finland. The scheme enables cross-border cooperation between Member States and aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment while supporting the EU’s climate and energy targets.

🚢 CEF Transport - EU funding upgrades ports and maritime infrastructure

Projects funded through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF Transport) are helping modernise ports and maritime transport infrastructure across Europe. The investments focus on cleaner shipping, better logistics connections, improved rail access to ports and infrastructure supporting offshore wind development.

The European Commission has registered a European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) calling for the development of a European social media platform designed to promote transparency, data protection and democratic digital participation within the EU.

🔥 LIFE Programme - ENABLE DHC supports greener district heating systems

new call for followers under the LIFE ENABLE DHC project invites cities, public authorities and utilities to join efforts to modernise district heating and cooling networks across Europe. The initiative aims to accelerate the transition toward more efficient and low-carbon heating infrastructure.
