Partners of the DETANGLE project gathered in Rome 16-17 June for the project's first Plenary Meeting, hosted by IRCCS San Raffaele Roma. Over two days, representatives from all consortium organisations reviewed progress achieved during the first six months of the project and aligned on the next steps towards delivering solutions that support the implementation of European cybersecurity legislation.
Funded under the Digital Europe Programme and supported by the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), DETANGLE aims to support the practical implementation of EU cybersecurity legislation through an integrated framework and digital platform that addresses compliance, certification, incident management, and cross-border collaboration.

Building the Foundations for Impact
Since its launch in January 2026, the DETANGLE consortium has focused on establishing the foundations necessary for the successful development and deployment of the project’s solutions.
During the first six months, partners have launched the project’s communication and dissemination channels, established governance and collaboration mechanisms, and initiated stakeholder engagement activities across Europe. A key focus has been the mapping of relevant stakeholder groups to support the development of a targeted outreach strategy and engagement plan that will guide collaboration with organisations, authorities, industry representatives, researchers, and cybersecurity professionals throughout the project.
The consortium has also begun building a growing community around DETANGLE by establishing connections with complementary European initiatives and projects addressing cybersecurity compliance, certification, resilience, and regulatory implementation.
As part of these efforts, DETANGLE joined the CRA Cluster, a collaborative network of EU-funded projects working on topics related to the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Through active participation in cluster activities and events, the project is contributing to knowledge exchange, exploring synergies with related initiatives, and supporting discussions on practical approaches to cybersecurity compliance and standardisation.

Advancing Technical Development and Use Cases
The plenary meeting provided an opportunity to review progress across all work packages, including project management, stakeholder engagement, compliance and certification tracking, intelligent incident management, cross-border collaboration, validation activities, and communication and dissemination efforts.
Partners discussed the DETANGLE architecture, analysed stakeholder requirements collected to date, reviewed key performance indicators, and aligned plans for the upcoming development phase. Particular attention was given to the project’s six use cases, which will validate DETANGLE solutions in real-world environments across sectors including healthcare, energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, port operations, cybersecurity incident response, and cross-border cooperation.
The meeting concluded with a collaborative technical workshop focused on system architecture, operational requirements, technical challenges, and the roadmap for the coming months. The discussions reinforced the consortium’s shared commitment to delivering practical, user-centred tools that help organisations navigate an increasingly complex cybersecurity regulatory landscape.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, DETANGLE will continue mapping the stakeholders and gathering feedback, expanding its community, strengthening collaboration with European initiatives, and advancing the development of its core components. The project will also further engage with policymakers, authorities, industry representatives, and cybersecurity practitioners to ensure that its solutions respond to real operational and regulatory needs.
By combining compliance support, incident management, certification guidance, and cross-border collaboration capabilities, DETANGLE aims to help organisations transform cybersecurity requirements into practical, manageable processes that contribute to a more resilient European digital ecosystem.
