EU4Health Programme, with a budget of €5.1 billion, is the fourth and largest of the EU health programmes and represents an ambitious response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but goes beyond the crisis response to address the resilience of European healthcare systems.

The actions under the EU4Health programme pursue the following 4 goals:

  • To improve and foster health in the Union
  • To tackle cross-border health threats
  • To improve medicinal products, medical devices and crisis-relevant products
  • To strengthen health systems, their resilience and resource efficiency

The programme also invests in urgent health priorities:

  • Response to COVID-19 pandemic, and resilience for cross-border health threats
  • Europe`s Beating Cancer Plan
  • Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe
