🔬 EU Research & Innovation - New survey on R&D careers
The OECD and European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation have launched the Research and Development Careers Survey 2026, inviting people working in R&D to share their experiences.
The findings will help policymakers understand how R&D work and careers are evolving and support the development of more attractive, sustainable and competitive research careers across Europe.

🧪 HERA - €2.1M in PCR tests for Ebola response
The European Commission, with support from HaDEA, has signed an agreement to procure €2.1 million worth of PCR tests in response to the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak.
The tests will be donated to the World Health Organization for distribution, strengthening rapid detection, outbreak control and global health emergency preparedness. Together with an earlier procurement, EU diagnostic support for the outbreak has reached €4.6 million.

🌾 EU Agriculture - Extreme weather puts crops and fodder under pressure
Persistent heat and lack of rainfall are affecting summer crops and fodder supply across western and central Europe, according to the latest monitoring from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
The update highlights the role of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in supporting efficient irrigation, water-saving technologies, climate-resilient infrastructure and more resilient crops.

🌱 CBAM - New guidance for verifiers and accreditation bodies
The European Commission has published new guidance explaining verification and accreditation requirements under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Accredited verifiers will be able to access the CBAM Registry from 1 September 2026, preparing stakeholders for verified emissions reporting during the definitive CBAM period.

📑 EU Public Procurement - Major reform approaching
The European Commission’s Public Buyers Community has highlighted the upcoming Public Procurement Act, with adoption scheduled for 9 September 2026.
The reform aims to simplify procurement rules, strengthen digitalisation and better integrate environmental, social and innovation considerations, alongside European preference criteria.
